funny mistake in a PM message
by
mathforever
on 2005-08-15 11:27:51
In the entry "convex function" it was posted a question:
> Is a convex function guaranteed to be continuous?
And the reply to it was:
> a convex function on an interval (a,b) is always convex
We start to have our own jokes ;)

A Math-Love song: Finite Simple Group
by
alozano
on 2005-05-09 13:25:45
This is probably the funniest math-song ever written (by the Klein Four Group):

The full lyrics can be found here:

New classification of numbers: integers and "weird"
by
alozano
on 2005-05-06 13:54:33
I have noticed that the students in my calculus classes use some terminology I was not aware of. They classify the numbers into two disjoint subsets: integers and "weird" numbers.
Everytime a student tries a problem and the answer they obtain is not an integer, they come to me and they say: "I am getting a 'weird number'. Thus, I must be doing something wrong!"
:D

do you drive with bicycle?
by
mathforever
on 2005-04-29 16:19:54
Question: Why pure mathematicians drive to work with a bicycle, while their colleagues, applied mathematicians, use autos?
Answer: Because pure mathematicians prefer not to use things they don't understand.
