Note that Mathworld defines an integral domain as having a multiplicative identity:

We use a similar definition of integral domain here on PlanetMath:
http://planetmath.org/encyclopedia/IntegralDomain.html
Thus, it makes no difference: The definitions of PID are equivalent. In a ring that has a multiplicative identity, the entire ring is *always* principal, as it is generated by the multiplicative identity.
