| Doing a bit more research it seems that the closed convex hull is in fact the same thing in a topological vector space (so most definately in an R vector space) as the closure of the convex hull (not very hard to prove once you prove that closure of a convex set is still convex). So forget about that side note.
Still the finite sum worries me.
