However, statistical tables are used because (as of yet) there are no buttons in calculators to compute values, typically. For example, some widely used tables are those of the probabilities associated to the normal distribution. Since there are no buttons in calculators to find integrals of $e^{-x^2}$ the tables have some reason to exist. However, any calculator these days has the sin, cos and tan functions.
