[parent] Viewing Correction to 'unit'
R commutative? by mclase

Type: Erratum

Correction text:
Although you've given a general ring theory MSC, this definition isn't correct for non-commutative rings.

In general, xy = 1 does not imply yx = 1. (e.g. End_K(V) for an infinite dimensional K-vector space V.)

And I think it is not usual to use terms like "divides" in non-commutative ring theory.

Comment from object owner drini:
I never noticed it would fail on noncommutative rings.
If you would like to write about the distinct definitions in order to get a better entry , just drop me a note and I'll add you to the editors group for this entry

Meanwhile, I'm just changing the msc code ;)
