[parent] Viewing Correction to 'rule of Sarrus'
Confusion by uli

Type: Erratum

Correction text:
I think you confuse matrix and determinant. a11..a33 is the matrix, D the determinant, though you may write the matrix between the vertical lines (is there a name for these ?)to indicate you mean their determinant. So you can't add columns to D to obtain a 3x5 matrix, since D is a scalar. You may name the matrix M, as in the entry "determinant", and then could write D = |M|= |a11...a33|

Regards

Comment from object owner pahio:
Now I clarified the text in the parentheses by saying "seeing"; of course you must then forget the vertical determinant lines =o)
