Correction text:
I note that you have omitted an important property of the euler constant - that it is the negative of the derivative of Euler's Gamma function, evaluated at 1. i.e. \gamma = - \Gamma ' (1)

This is most likely (although dont quote me on this) why it is given the symbol of a lower case gamma.
