Correction text:
Let me propose the following corrections:

1) "define the immanent of A"

the missing math environment ($$) for A.

2) "Special cases of immanents are determinants and permanents -- In the case"

I think it is better instead of "--" use just point "."

3) "In the case where $ \chi$ is the sign character ( $ \chi(x) = +1$ for even permutations, $ \chi(x) = -1$ for odd permutations)"

I think it is better to write so

"In the case where $\chi(\sigma)$ is the sign of a permutation $\sigma$"
