Viewing Correction to 'closed operator'

Property 4 is incorrect by olegalexandrov Correction id: 7068 Filed on: 2005-09-10 00:15:15 Status: Accepted on 2005-09-11 13:33:07 Type: Erratum
Correction text:
Property 4 gives necessary and sufficient conditions for an operator to be closeable. I think there one has to assume x=y in order to infer that the limits of Ax_n and Ay_n are the same. Otherwise, the only closed operators are the constant function.
By the way, thank you for the nice article. I copied it over to Wikipedia, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Closed_operator. What would be nice to have in addition is why closed operators are important, and some examples of such operators which are not bounded. | Comment from object owner Koro:
| Thanks, I fixed that. I will add examples and some motivation when I have a spare time. Feel free to fill an addenda if that doesn't happen soon. |
