Hmm, I just state that euclidean metric is used in the C or R case. The way I'm reading things, things are not so simple in other fields. Though it could just be that I'm not understanding the literature (not an algebraist, so C and R are all I understand:) If someone figures out how to generalize this entry, then they can do so, I think C and R are the important cases and enough for planetmath right now ...
