Kupka-Smale (Definition)

A diffeomorphism $f$ mapping a smooth manifold $M$ to itself is called a Kupka-Smale diffeomorphism if

  1. every periodic point of $f$ is hyperbolic;
  2. for each pair of periodic points $p$ ,$q$ of $f$ , the intersection between the stable manifold of $p$ and the unstable manifold of $q$ is transversal.
