Paper: An Introduction to Feynman's Sum Over Histories

An Introduction to Feynman's Sum Over Histories

Authors: D. Allan Drummond
Record added by: drummond
Comments:
Informal and introductory paper, no doubt with major errors.
Description:
We briefly review quantum mechanics, describe the sum over histories and formalize it in terms of a path integral, carry out the path integral for a free particle, and describe how the counterintuitive sum over histories results in the macroscopic behavior we observe. The discussion, while informal, assumes some familiarity with basic quantum concepts (e.g. amplitudes, Schrodinger's equation), calculus and Dirac's bra-ket notation.

pdfTeX-0.14f problem by ejhuff827 on 2002-07-07 19:24:07
Viewing this paper on RedHat 7.3 using Mozilla 2002051319 invokes ghostview. Ghostview prints this error message:

**** This file has a corrupted %%EOF marker, or garbage after the %%EOF.
**** The file was produced by pdfTeX-0.14f:
**** please notify the author of this software
**** that the file does not conform to Adobe's published PDF
**** specification. Processing of the file will continue normally.

I suppose that you are just using pdfTeX, but maybe there is a new version with the problem fixed.

Might want to make the abstract grammatically correct:

We briefly review of quantum mechanics...

And I thought you have a minor in creative writing, Princeton sheesh... :)
