Dirac sequence

A Dirac sequence is a sequence (δk) of functions δk, which satisfies the following conditions:

  1. 1.

    δk0 for all k.

  2. 2.

    -δk(t)𝑑t=1 for all k.

  3. 3.

For every r>0 and ε>0 there is an N, such that for all k>N we have

    \[-r,r]δk(t)𝑑t<ε.

These functions “converge” to the Dirac delta function.
