Laurent Lafforgue
Laurent Lafforgue (born 1966) French mathematician, educator and research director of National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS). After earning in arithmetic and algebraic geometry, Lafforgue proved Langland’s conjectures on of a function field. In 2002 he was awarded the Fields medal.
