International Congress of Mathematicians (Definition)

The International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM) is a conference of mathematicians from all over the world held every four years in a different city. Interrupted by World War II, since 1950, the congress has met on the same year the FIFA World Cup is held. At the opening ceremony of the congress, the Fields Medal and other prizes are handed out.
