projective resolution (Definition)

Let $ M$ be a module. A projective resolution of $ M$ is an exact sequence of the form

$\displaystyle \cdots \to P_n \to P_{n-1} \to \cdots \to P_1 \to P_0 \to M \to 0$
where each $ P_n$ is a projective module.
