oh, i cannot resist a redundant explanation ...
"redundancy is the essence of information", y'know ...
what's at root here is a 11 correspondence between the set N of positive integers and the set (N ~> N) of finite partial functions from N to N.
writing the ordered pair (x,y} as x:y, we have the correspondence:
1 <> {} = the empty function
2 <> {1:1}, since p_1^1 = 2
3 <> {2:1), since p_2^1 = 3
4 <> {1:2}, since p_1^2 = 4
usw ...
