Is there any method of finding the roots of higher degree polynomials. Note that I am interested in non-numeric roots, I mean to I want to calculate roots in (a+sqr of n)/c form, not in the form 5.677777. How can we find the roots in this form of the polynomial n^5-7n^4+17n^3-18n^2+7n-1,

## Re: roots

Dear makenqau,

Already Abel (http://planetmath.org/encyclopedia/NielsHenrikAbel.html) proved the impossibility of solve algebraically the quintic equation.
