# Whitehead group in topology

## Question

The entry should contain a standard definition of the Whitehead group in topology in relation to the integral group ring of the fundamental group $\pi$ of a topological space $X$. The new entry must also specify the important topological invariant called the “Whitehead torsion” which is involved, for example, in the classification of compact manifolds.
