Let ρ=(-1+-3)/2, where we arbitrarily choose -3 to be either of the complex numbersMathworldPlanetmathPlanetmath whose square is -3. Note that ρ3=1. The Eisenstein integersMathworldPlanetmath are the ring [ρ]={a+bρ:a,b}.
