linear combination

A linear combination of vectors $v_1,\mathrm{\dots },v_n$ of a vector space $V$ over a field $F$ is a vector of the form

$$\sum _{i=1}^n{a}_i{v}_i,$$

where the $a_i$ are elements of $F$.
